Volkswagen workforce grows to 500,000 employees;
Group creates 28,000 new jobs
The Volkswagen Group has increased its global workforce by 100,000 employees in the current year. The growth in employee numbers is the result of the integration of new companies and the creation of 28,000 new jobs throughout the world. At the end of November, the Group employed 500,000 people, including more than 12,000 apprentices.

Volkswagen intends to make production 25 percent more environmentally compatible by 2018
As part of its "Think Blue. Factory." Initiative, the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has set itself clear targets for the environmentally sustainable positioning of all its plants. By 2018, the environmental impact of all Volkswagen plants is to be reduced by 25 percent. This applies especially to energy consumption, waste volumes, air-borne emissions, water consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

Audi stepping up the pace again in 2012: 1,200 new jobs and new investment program
Audi is investing heavily in its future and, as this year, is intending to recruit some 1,200 specialists in 2012. From 2012 through 2016 the Audi Group is planning to invest a total of € 13 billion, mainly in new products and technologies and in expanding its sites. Almost € 8 billion of this sum will be earmarked for the German locations of Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm.

Wolfgang Egger takes charge of Audi Brand Design
Wolfgang Egger (48), Head of Audi Group Design, will also be taking charge of Audi Brand Design on an operational level from February 1, 2012. He will be taking over this task from Stefan Sielaff, who is to become Head of the Volkswagen Design Center in Potsdam and Head of Interior Design for the Volkswagen Group.

Global vehicle deliveries by the Volkswagen Group grew further in the period January to November, with the Group handing over 7.51 (January – November 2010: 6.59; +13.9 percent)* million vehicles to customers. Europe’s largest automaker therefore continued to outperform the world market (+5.3 percent).

New plant in China to build Audi A3 from 2013

Audi reports best U.S. November sales in its history; 11th record-setting month of 2011
Audi today reported its 11th straight record-setting month of sales for the year with 9,700 vehicles sold in November 2011, a 3.6% increase over the previous all-time record set a year earlier. Year-to-date sales ended the month up 15.2% with 104,906 vehicles sold, topping the previous annual U.S. sales record of 101,629 set at the end of last year.

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand started the fourth quarter with strong sales. A total of 4.24 (January to October 2010: 3.78) million vehicles were sold from January to October 2011, representing an increase of 12.1 percent. For the month of October, the brand delivered 430,800 (October 2010: 390,300; +10.4 percent) units.

AUDI AG: Strong sales figures in China, United Kingdom and United States
A strong month in Audi’s largest export markets China, the United Kingdom and the United States resulted in a 23.9 percent overall increase in the company’s vehicle deliveries, to around 108,500 units. The total sales for the year to date, January to October, rose to around 1,081,700 vehicles, up 18 percent. Thus, Audi should already reach its yearly sales record of 1,092,411 cars set in 2010 in the first days of November.

Record operating profit for the Audi Group: €1.4 billion in the third quarter
The Audi Group continued its growth trend in the third quarter. The Ingolstadt manufacturer delivered a total of 320,276 (2010: 274,417) cars of the Audi brand – an increase of 16.7 percent. In addition, the Company generated revenue of €10.9 (2010: 8.4) billion and a record operating profit of €1.4 (2010: 0.9) billion. This is equivalent to an operating return on sales of 13.1 (2010: 11.1) percent.

Audi January U.S. sales increase 20% to set another monthly record
