Volkswagen Selects Erlanger For In-Plant Medical Clinic
Physician and Staff of Four to Care For Plant Workers
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Volkswagen Group of America, Chattanooga Operations has selected Erlanger Health System to administer health care services for the in-plant medical center at their Chattanooga, TN manufacturing plant, currently under construction.
The three-year contract calls for five full-time medical professionals, which will include a dedicated medical doctor, a physician's assistant, a registered nurse and two medical assistants. The Erlanger medical team will provide care for the various medical needs of the approximately 2,000 employees at the plant. Erlanger currently provides similar services out of a trailer at the construction site.
The clinic will be a fully-functioning on-site primary care facility that focuses on work-related injuries, on-site physical therapy and is also equipped for traumas. The clinic will also treat such personal illnesses as colds, flu and allergy shots, as well as annual health screens, health risk appraisals for new hires and such lifestyle improvement opportunities as tobacco cessation.

The on-site clinic is scheduled to be operational by July of this year.
