Good Clean Diesel Fun on Display in Mission to Find the Next Star in Racing
HERNDON, VA – Relive the excitement of the inaugural season of the Jetta TDI Cup, as 30 young, ambitious drivers compete in clean diesel Volkswagen Jettas for a chance to win $100,000 in the world's first green racing series. The documentary follows the personal stories of the drivers both on and off the track, from 16-year-old karting champ Liam Kenney to 26 year old Iraqi war veteran Mark Pombo as they compete on the track in an eight race series across the U.S. and Canada and learn the ins and outs of a professional race series.
"This program captures the excitement and heart of the Jetta TDI Cup Series," said Clark Campbell, Motorsport Manager, Volkswagen of America. "The purpose of this series was two fold. First, promote clean diesel as a viable alternative fuel in the U.S. and to help shape the professional racing careers of 30 young, aspiring drivers.
"We encourage all race fans to check out the exciting first season of the Jetta TDI Cup Series, the inspiring stories of these talented young drivers and the advanced award winning technology of today's clean diesel.
The documentary, Racing Under Green, will air at 4:30 PM EST, Saturday, November 22nd on the SPEED Channel. A repeat airing can be viewed Sunday, November 23rd at 1:00am. Also available on SPEED On Demand.
