WOLFSBURG, Germany - When the Volkswagen teams are busy fighting for victory on Dakar Rally’s hard and dusty desert tracks between the 5 and 20 January 2008, the rally fans are kept permanently up-to-date.

As soon as Dakar the Rally starts on 5 January in Lisbon (Portugal) the co-called "IriTrack System” is available free-of-charge to every visitor of www.volkswagen-motorsport.com . The satellite supported location system shows the position of each Volkswagen Race Touareg permanently and in real-time during the stage and, in addition, gives information about the start, intermediate and total times. The IriTrack System is available, like the entire website, in three languages (German, English and French) and requires the Adobe Flash Player which is also available free-of-charge.

"Dakar-TV” on the Internet: www.volkswagen-motorsport.com also offers video coverage of sporting events during the Dakar Rally. Furthermore, Volkswagen enables Internet users to take a look behind the scenes of the world's longest and toughest desert rally through its own reports about the factory squad and the atmosphere in the bivouac. The Adobe Flash Player is also required to play the videos (download from www.adobe.com).

The www.volkswagen-startklar.de website, edited for children by Volkswagen, offers a full "Dakar” programme including an online game, e-paper and a sound mixer. Rally fans can also find interesting mix of news and pictures about the desert classic on www.eurosport.com and in the German language on www.rtl.de and www.sport.de .
