Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivers 2.41 million vehicles in period to May
The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 2.41 (January – May 2012: 2.29; +5.3 percent) million vehicles in the first five months of this year. The brand grew deliveries by 5.5 percent for the month of May, handing over 503,100 (May 2012: 476,900) vehicles to customers.

Volkswagen Passat TDI® Clean Diesel Attempts to Set World Record for Fuel Economy Around the Lower 48 U.S. States
Volkswagen of America announced today that it will challenge the existing GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® achievement for the “lowest fuel consumption—48 U.S. states for a non-hybrid car.” Two drivers will pilot a 2013 Passat TDI® Clean Diesel, leaving from and returning to Volkswagen’s Herndon, Va. headquarters.

Audi and MIT develop first-ever index to quantify driver frustration
Driving in chaotic urban traffic can be as nearly as stressful as jumping out of an airplane, according to new findings from an Audi and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) study. To better understand the impact road frustrations have on motorists today, Audi joined forces with the MIT SENSEable City Laboratory to explore a wide range of measurements aimed at quantifying driver stress on the road today. For Audi, the research helps validate how the latest driver assistance and connectivity technologies found in most Audi models can help ease the stress of daily driving.

Volkswagen Chattanooga Annual Economic Impact on Tennessee: $643 Million
The UTK study states that of the 12,400 full-time jobs the Chattanooga plant directly employs 2,415 employees and indirectly employs 9,985 employees through the suppliers and other companies where Volkswagen spends its earnings and multiplier effects. The company has attracted 17 supplier companies to the area.

Audi today reported May 2013 sales of 13,228 vehicles, a 15% increase over the previous May record set last year. Showing no signs of slowing in the U.S market, Audi May sales stand as the 29th consecutive monthly record for the brand.
